The vicar intends taking a Hospital service in All Saints’ Church to-mor-row at 7 p.m.; special hymns etc., and he earnestly appeals to all his people to respond to the Hospital Appeal in a worthy way. The annual meeting of the Kumara Medical Association was held in the Memorial Hall on Thursday, presided over ov Mr James Murphy, who expressed his disappointment at the small number of townspeople present. The Hon. Secretary, Mr W. Evenden, read the balance sheet, which disclosed a small credit balance, and was adpoted. Mr 1). McLean moved a vote of thanks to the townspeople who bad contributed to the .Medical Fund, and expressed the hope that the very small minority who had withheld their support would next year join the majority in the very worthy object of sustaining a resident doctor. On the motion of Mr Nolan, the retiring members of the Committee were re-elected for the ensuing year, Mr .1. A. I’eever. on behalf of the Committee, voiced an appreciation of Dr Dorothy Booth's services to the town. Many expressions of appreciation anent the careful and sympathetic treatment received had been received by the Committee, and the speaker felt that it was title to Dr Booth to place such expressions on record. Mr Beever also shared the Chairman's disappointment that so few of the townspeople were sufficiently interested to come and hear how the Medical Fund had been administered. Especially drd he deplore the fat t that the town was not officially represented at the meeting. In face of such lack of support, the Committee were to he commended on consenting to carry out their duties, which were by no means light, for another year. Alter a few matters of routine were discussed, the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
