ADOINCTON STOCK SALES. CHRISTCHURCH. Dec. S. Fat cattle—A heavy entry of cows, many of them rough sorts, was a feature of the fat cattle section. I lit yarding was smaller than last week, the totals being 580 and 610 respeciivelv. Prime heavy steers occupied several pens, and there was a fair proportion of prime medium-weight steers and prime heifers. 1 he quality was very mixed. Store cattle—There was a good demand for all sorts in the store cattle pens, hut no quotable lines wore forward. The entry was a small one. comprised mainly of cows, with a few small lots of steers and several hulls. Values were:—Best cows £3 10s to £5 ss, medium £2 5s to £3 7s od, aged and inferior 30s to- C2. hulls £3 to £9 ss. Dairy cattle—There was a good sale all round for the small yarding of dairy cows. This was especially so in the ease of the liettcr sorts. Values

Vealors—There was a hotter sale for the hotter sorts of venders, lint the prices generally suffered no change in the case of small and inferior animals. The yarding was smaller than last week. and values were: Twelve to eighteen months sorts to £7, good venters £-1 10s to £5 10s. medium venders £li 7s Gd to £4 7s Gd. others 10s. to 355. small and inferior calves 3s to 9s. Fat sheep—There was an easing of from Is Gd to 2s a head in the price of medium sheep with a greater declino in inferior sorts. The demand showed an easing off compared with recent sales, and several lots were passed in. The best lines, however, sold well up to last week’s figures. Values were: Extra prime wethers to 45s Id, prime wethers .'lds Gd to 38. s Gd, medium wethers 30s to 3-i.s, light wethers 25s Id to 295. extra prime ewes to 39s ITld. prime ewes 31s to 35s Gd. medium ewes 2Gs to 29s Gd, light ewes 20s Id to 25s Gd.

Store sheep—The attendance of buy-

ers at the store slieep sale was not large, and competition lacked the briskness of last week. Values Were: Forward four and six-tooth wethers. 23s to 24s 3d, ordinary four and sixtooth wethers 19s lOd to 22s Od. Twotoothed wethers 21s Gd to 235, lowconditioned two-tooth wethers 19s to 20s, good woolly owes and lambs 235. aged woolly ewes and lambs, 10s Gd to 20s lid.

Fat lambs—The quality was varied, with plain lambs in the majority. The yarding totalled 909. compared with 784 the previous week. Prices, on the average, were about the same, though bidding was slack at the start, being then about Is a head below last week’s rates. Values were about 9d per lb. with sjiocial pens to 9.1 d... Values: Kxtrn prime heavy lambs to 33s 9d, prime lambs 28s to 32s 7d. medium lambs 2Gs to 27s 7d .light and unfinished 24s to 25s 7d.

Pigs—A smaller entry of fat pigs saw a slightly better demand. Prices opened much the, same as last week, improved somewhat, and then declined to their opening level. Baeoners were easier in price than porkers. Values were: Choppers 35s to GOs, light baconers 55s to 655. heavy baeoners 70s to 80s. average price per 11). 5d to Gd; light porkers 33s to 38s, heavy porkers 41s to 535. average price per lb. fid to *ld. After record sales in the two previous weeks, there was only a medium-sized yarding of store pdgs. A general decline in prices was most noticeable in the case of weaners. and towards the close of the sale all animals were difficult to quote. Values wore: Medium weaners 9s to 14s. large weaners 15s to 17s Od. slips 15s to 19s. medium stores ]9s to 245, large stores 25s to 335.
