In the Hawke Cup preliminary match Marlborough v Nelson, after making an excellent start, Marlborough went to pieces, the total scored leing 177. M. Xeal had hard luck in being run out when well set. with .1/ to his credit. B. C'ragg made a useful 20. la the lmwling. A. Newman took 3 for 32, .T. Newman 3 for 38, Kinzelt 1 for 21. Nelson could do no better against the howling of O’Connor, who took 7 for 48, and Henderson 2 for 23. the total realising only 136. of which Ivinzctt made 50, Coomlies 34. Taylor 16, B. C. Eden 12. Marlborough in the second innings had lost 2 wickets for 12 when stumps were drawn. BLENHEIM. Dec. 9. Play resumed this morning in the Marlborough versus Nelson. Hawke Cup match. Marlborough wickets fell like leaves. At one stage five were down for 31. The remaining batsmen made a good stand and the innings realised 124, the last wicket falling at. luncheon adjournment.
