Johnnie Leckie (Dunedin), 8.12, tonight defeated Mark Carroll (Wanganui) 9.1, in the fifth of a ten-round professional bout, the latter’s seconds throwing in the towel. Carroll, though game, was no match for the champion. In the second ten-rounder. Tommy Griffiths (Dunedin) 8.7. outpointed F. Taylor (Auckland) 8.3, in a clean, willing fight. The decision was not over-popular, but there was no doubt that Griffiths won, although the margin between the two was small.
