T'hk invitation extended to the public to the mooting at the Town Hall tdinori'dw night to discuss with the Mayor of Greymouth and other representative gentlemen of Greymouth, the proposals for celebrating the jubilee ol Greymouth sot down for Fcbruary\|arcb next, should be well responded ■o. The occasion is one in which both ■omm unities might well co-operate, seeing that there is a natural community interest in any case between the two neighbouring towns. When !iti appeal was made from this end some four years ago for aid in connection with the Kxl libit ion movement, the response from Greymouth was in every way satisfactory. Not only was a special bay taken up. but valued assistance was rendered by local organisations, and the attendance from the north was certainly very large. The present appears to be an opportunity when an effort might- lie made to return something of the support extended previously. On that account alotie there is an obligation for liberal support from Hokitika. A jubilee is an Interesting milestone in a record, and tlie (ircymouth people are out to mark the occasion in a pronounced manner. There is to be a busy round of gaiety and doings, and the various functions should result in arousing much public interest The co-operation from Ibis end of the district is sure to be considerable, and a local committee working from here in con junction with the central committee should result in the public interest being well aroused. The occasion which affords the opportunity for the two towns to work together should he welcomed, and it is hoped the. co-operation will bo as cordial as tho occasion warrants. In the fullness of time Hokitika Borough will have the opportunity of <elehrating its jubilee about August next year when wo are sure there would he a reciprocal help from tho north for the local celebrations hero.
