{Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.). QUESTIONS IN COMMONS. LONDON, Dec. 5. Tn the Commons, Hon. Samuel, in reply to questions, said the Government were considering the effects ol competition of wireless upon cable companies revenue. The Pacific Cable Hoard had undoubtedly suffered in the past year as a result of competition of beam at lower charges. The Hoard was effecting economies and experts were constantly engaged improving the methods. Pacific’s new cable was the most effective in the world. Lord ITarmsworth —Is there to be cooperation between cable and wireless?
Hon. Samuel said he had no knowledge on the matter. Mr MacQuisten —Will you say that in any co-operation the public will benefit in the shape of reduced charges ? There was no answer. Mr Ormsby-Gore, in answer to a question, said the discussion with the King of Iraq in reference to the latter
seeking membership of the League of Nations resulted in an agreement that was expected to be signed shortly. Meanwhile he could not reveal the details' thereof.

Tn the Commons, Mr Baldwin answering a question said the League's Preparatory Committee on disarmament apparently did not regard the Russian proposals for universal disarmament as a practical, helpful contribution to the problem. Accordingly there would bo no advantage in the Commons discussing them.
