At the Leicliardt Stadium, Trowciti (10.51) just managed to secure a sufficient margin of points to defeat Hancock (10.6). It was a very close contest, and the New Zealander only hv socring the most points in the last lew minutes, was enabled to gain the decision. Hancock, who was not in his best lorn), scored a good load over the first six rounds, and had the New Zealander floored in the ninth. Thereafter the latter made a good recovery and scraped through by a narrow margin.
DUNEDIN. Dec. 3. The professional featherweight contest for the championship of New Zealand, between Jojinny Leckie (holder), Dunedin, and Tommy Griffiths, also of Dunedin, was fought last night at Kensington Drill Hall, before an attendance estimated at 3000. Air Kilmartiu was referee, ami decided in favour of Leckie (after the contest had gone the full fifteen rounds, hut the margin in the winner’s favour must have been small. A purse of £l5O was at stake.
