LitvinolF seriously. The “Daily Telegraph” says the diplomatic correspondent describes the speech as a blatant form of platform, propaganda. None but a simpleton would treat tbe performance seriously. The “.Morning Post” publishes under headlines "Soviet Farce,” “Deer in Sheep’s Clothing.” The “Daily Chronicle” says:—AVe may be sure the Russians felt no uneasiness in putting forward a programme which they knew they would no be called upon to undertake themselves.
The “Daily News" thinks there canjot be many, deceived by this clumsy farce. . Even the “Daily Herald” seems to regard the scheme as rather a challenge than something practicable. BYRD’S ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION. NEW YORK. Dec. 1.
Arctic Eskimos will for the first time bo taken to the Antarctic in the projected Byrd expedition, according to an announcement hv the Commander, who says six Greenlanders, including two women, have agreed to start an Eskimo colony there. The remainder of the expedition consists of whites. Byrd has received thousands of applications from adventurous spirits to accompany him. Scores of these are from Australia and New Zealand. The expedition is already financed including a number of large subscriptions.
