(.By Telegraph—Per Press Association. THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Nov. 30. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. Insurance Companies Deposits Amendment Bill was referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. Alter a brief debate, it was decided that the report of the joint .South Lsiand-Aust-ra.lia Shipping Facilities Committee on the itinerary of the X.Z.M.S. Maui Pomare in connection with Pacific Isles trade be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. Palmerston North Empowering Bill and Napier Harbour Board Empowering Loan and Constitution Amendment Bill were reported from the local Bills Committee without amendment and put through their final stages and passed. The Council decided to insist on its amendments in the Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill, and Coal Miues Amendment Bill, and managers were appointed to draw up reasons and confer with representatives of the House. The Council adjourned at 3.40 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. next day. THE HOUSE.
In the House, after the transaction of formal business, consideration of the Licensing llftl was resumed at its Committee stage and occupied the House until 1.25 a.m.
A proposal to take a poll on license or no-license in the King Country was ruled out by Mr Speaker, on the ground that it would involve expenditure and was therefore an appropriation clause.
The Prime Minister refused to move the third reading of the Bill and this duty was taken up by Mr E. P. Lee (Oamaro). At 3.35 a.m. the third reading was agreed to by 39 to 32 and the Bill was passed. The House rose at 3.50 a.m. till 2.30 p.m.
