COMPANY REPORT. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 28. The annual report of the directors of Pyne, Gould and -Guinness, Ltd., was adopted by the shareholders. It stated that after the year’s working and making provision for various contingencies, there was a net balance of £15,668. Out of this sum, the following appropriations were recommended: to land and income tax reserve £1009: to general reserve (which will, then stand at £30.000). £10.000) ; declaration of final dividend on ordinary share capital of 2', tier cent making a total dividend for the year of 5 per cent,. SPECTACULAR EIRE. DARGARVILLE. Nov. 28

One of the most disastrous spectacular fires experienced, occurred on Saturday night at i o clock, when a large building store of brick and iron, packed with produce, ironmongery, oils, paints and groceries and valued at about £IO,OOO was practically destroyed by fire. It was caused by the overturning of a blow lamp used in connection with the oil engine, which generates the electricity for the whole of the premises. The lamp set lire to the engine room in the centre of the ’building, and the flames soon spread to the whole of the store. The Eire Brigade were soon »n the scene and bad every available lead of hose in play, but owing to the mUammable nature of the goods, they had » hard task in subduing the flames.
