FIRE BRIGADES
DEMONSTRATION at DENNTSTON
The AA'esl Coast Fire Brigades annual demonstration was held at Denliiston on Saturday, in fine weather.
I here was excellent competition and the display was of a good quality. The results are as follows:-
One man event- (Browning Memorial Cup)—Westport 1, Hokitika 2. Greymouth 3.
Two men coupling (Rose Cup)— Westport 1, Greymouth 2, Hcnnistoi:
Three men, wet. flat—Otira 1, TCu mnra 2, Greymouth 3.
Five men coil, wet—Otira 1, Kumara. 2, Rcefton 3. Five men reel—Hokitika 1, Reefton 2, ilvumara 3. Otira won the Russell Shield and the Benvou Cup. Westport won the Browning Cup and the Rose Cup, and three gold medals.
The Greymouth team lost the services of Fireman Bloeksnge m mo wet events, as a result of an accident earlier in the contest, resulting in a small bone of his leg being broken. An accident, also befel Secretary Walton. who was knocked over hv the reel and received a slight concussion.
