MR AMERY ON TOUR

(By Telegraph—Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 21. Mr Amcrv anil party arrived Plymouth this afternoon, travelling overland from To Kuiti and halting briefly at Vaitara. At New Plymouth, despite the unfavourable weather, they were given a warm reception by a large crowd. Mr and Mrs Ainer.v spent a busy afternoon. After the reception, the party were the guesm of the Tourist Expansion League. 1 hey were niotoied to the beauty spots and points of interest about the town. This was followed by a reception by the Victoria I eagne and J-egion ot Froutior.smen. The Opera House tliis evening was packed for the civic reception. Mr Amery spoke on the need for Empire co-operation and discussed immigration problems and urged upon the Dominion the desirability of keeping young New Zealanders on the land. Despite the fact that Mount Egmont
was shrouded in misty rain. Mr Amery left for the North Egmont Hostel at ten o’clock to-night. Tie intends to start climbing shortly after daylight, and hopes to reach the summit, though there wore indications to-night that he as a keen mountaineer, will Iso disappointed, for there appears little chance that the clouds will lift sufficiently to- allow of a clear view tomorrow. Mr Amery will join the remainder of the party on a special train at Inglewood, on route for Wanganui where ho is due at 3 p.m.
