GILES’ PERVERSITY. NEW YORK. Nov. 24

A I'nited Press message from San Francisco states that Giles’ story of a severo storm met with frank scepticism by the officials of the California. Weather Bureau. The Government Meteorologist, Major Bowie, said the reports from ships at sea along the entire route of Giles’ projected flight, indicated fair weather, calm seas and gentle winds. Bowie declared that a report from the steamer Ventura in an approximate situation where (Tiles said he had enountered a severe storm, recorded a smooth sea. and a six miles per hour wind. Bowie added: “The storm bo talks about must have been in his brain.” He charged Giles and Peterson with not playing the game with the Weather Bureau. No forecast had been made for the fliers since Saturday. “I mean by that, with the reputation of the Weather Bureau at stake, that wo could not- afford to take chances with Giles, when lie and Peterson wore inclined to net contrary to our advice. Giles, <m fTie occasions we gave him a favourable forcesat, seems to have shown no disposition to fly. Then last Saturday, when we advised him against attempting any sort of flight, he hopped off and returned because the weather conditions at sea were adverse, as we toTTI him they would be. Tt was then we told Peterson we could not give Him further forecasts. AVc did give him ship reports, however.”

SAN FRAXCTSCO. Xov. 24. Giles arrived here and reiterated his claim that foul weather upset and damaged the biplane. A Detroit message states that William Rosewarne, a hacker of Giles’ flight, sent him a telegram of censure, and ordered him to get the ship ready to go again instead of performing for “cheap vulgar publicity.”

GIBES’ FLIGHT. SAN FRANCISCO, Xov. 24. A Detroit message states Mr Rosewnrne announced fo-day that he is willing to hack one more, and this time the final attempt by Giles to hop to Honolulu; adding that there was no doubt in Ills mind that Giles met 4>nd weather conditions and he believed he was a sport and would play the game. ‘The test of the situation will lie his next flight, ’ remarked the hacker.

HINKLER. AND McINTOSH. WARSAW, Xov. 23. After the Polish Air Force have repaired their plane, Hinkler and McIntosh will fly to London, accompanied by Airs Whitehead, wife of the British Vice-Consul in Lemberg. Later they will make another attempt to flv to India.
