THE COUNCIL
WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. Tho Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.in. The (Coall iM.ines Amendment Bill was reported by the Goldfields and Mines Committee with technical amendments, Ashley River Improvement Amendment Bill was read tho second time ami put through the final stages and passed without amendment. Child Welfare Amendment Bill was read a second time pro forma and referred to the Education Committee. Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Bill was reported by the local Bills Committee without amendments and put through the final stages and passed. The Council adjourned at .2.40 p.Vn.
THE HOUSE. In the House a report on the Education Amendment Bill was brought down, with an additional elatiSe inserted by the Education Coniiifittee to legalise the Nelson system of 'religious instruction in schools. The Minister of Labour moved the second reading of the Industrial Cbiiciliatmh and Arbitration Amendment Bill, the debate on which occupied the attention of the House until 3.55 u.m. when the second reading was carried by 45 to 12. The House rose at 3.55 n.m. till 2.30 p.m.
