ALr Baldwin in answer to questions, stated for the seven months ended 31st October of migrants assisted under the Empire Settlement Act, 20,000 went to Canada, 16,700 to Australia, 1,700* to New Zealand. The costs to the respective Governments Were :—Britain and Canada, £200,000 and £90,000; Britain and Australia, £200,000 each; Britain and New Zealand, £22,500 each. During the past five years 7305 boys, aged from fourteen to seventeen, had gone to Canada and were under voluntary societies’ care. LADY MEMBER APPEARS. LONDON, Nov. 21.
