CYCLE ROAD RACE. OPPERMAN’S RECORD. (Australia & N.Z. Cable Associat'.'u.) MELBOURNE, Nov. 19. The final stage of the Warrnambool to Melbourne, 165 miles, resulted : If. Opperman (Victoria) 1, Blirs. 14 mins. 09 secs. 14. Watson (New Zealand) 2, Bhrs. 40mins. s"secs. E. Bainbridge (Victoria) 3, Bhrs. 41mins. SOsecs. L. Einsidel (Victoria) 4, Shrs. 47 mins. 37sees. W. Ronnie (New Zealand) 5, Shrs. 59min. 39sec. New Zealand won the teams race, and Rennie won the sealed handicap prize.
Colae to Melbourne, 10 miles (amateur): —R. Foster 1,4 hrs. 47mins. 3 secs ; E. Lamb 2, C. A. Maggs 3. Lukey (New Zealand) was sixteenth. Thirty-one riders started.
In the final stage of the .ounlop Grand Prix, Opperman left Warrnambool 45 minutes before Watson and the others followed, according to agreegate times taken for the previous section, Opperman’s total riding time for 690.) miles was 40hrs. 41mins. 34secs., a world’s record. Watson finished well, taking second prize (£100). He averaged a fall and a puncture each day. Watson and Rennie won the teams race easily, taking £6O. Opperman’s total prize money is over £4OO and the Cup. All the riders were bronzed by the weather.
