The period of depression through which the Dominion has been passing must have left its effects upon tlio commercial and industrial life of the community, and it would be both interesting and valuable if the views of the delegates, not only on the contributing causes, but also on the steps to 1m? taken to avoid a recurrence, were frankly stated. Many questions are involved, among them the. part played by the growing cast of governenco. and a definite lead from such a conference would certainly command attention. The citizens of Christchurch will hope that the visit, of the delegates will lie both pleasant and profitable. They will find here a centre which-hopes to play an ever increasing part in the commercial and industrial activities of the Dominion, and anxious that all that is done should he in the direction of furthering its all-round development.—“Lyttelton Times.”
