. ArELBOURNB GRAND PRIX. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association. MELBOURNE, Nov. 14. The Grand Prix, 6901 miles, to be run in four stages—the first stage, Alelhourne to Wangaratta, 186 miles, was contested to-day in fine weather. There were sixty starters. The race resulted : H. Opperman (Victoria) was first, 10 hrs 9 min 12 seconds. H. G. Watson (New Zealand) second, 10 hrs 2.5 mins 55 secs. L. Einsidel (Victoria) third 10 hrs, 39 mins E” sees. Bambridge (Victoria) was fourth. Opperman led though Einsidel was second in the early stages. A\ atson was sixth at fifty miles, second at Alexandra (62 miles) and fourth at Merton (102 miles). Watson had a puncture at Alexandra. Bennie (New Zealand) was tenth in 11 hrs Omins 10 secs. Opperman won all the special prizes. Watson finished well and was congratulated by Councillor Handle.', Mayor of Wangaratta on his great effort'. The Mayor remarked that he was worthy of the best New Zealand cycling tradition*. _____
