OBITUARY

lIEV. FATHER (LANCV

News has been received of the death yesterday at Wellington of Bov Father John Clancy, at the age of 62 years. Deceased was in charge of Hokitika parish from 1910 to 1920, and during that period was instrumental in the building of the fine new churches at Hokitika and Ivanieri. the enlargement of St. Alary’s school to double its previous size and the erection of St. Alary’s club-rooms. The deceased was a very popular figure in Hokitika among all denominations and was loved by bis flock throughout the district. He was a finished scholar and fine linguist, having spent years of his early life in France anu spam.

After leaving Hokitika deceased went to Napier and later went for a trip to the Old Country. Since his return his health has not been too good. The funeral Is taking place at Wellingtop gn Thursday at 10 a.m.
