ArASTERTON, Nov. 13. At a meeting of the creditors of Randolph A. Rose, farmer, the bankrupt's total debts were set down at £782 12s 9d. and his assets from stock in trade, cash, and furniture £353 Is 8d leaving a deficiency of £429 11s Id. There are no secured creditors, and chief unsecured creditors are 'E. J. Rose (£300), A. Ar. Sanson (£102), 4. Alien (£101), and H. Rose, Northland (£88). In a statement on behalf of the bankrupt by AIF T. Jordon, It was set' out that he. had purchased a farm at Upper Plain. Masterton, from one, Chamberlain, at a rental of £l5O per annum and rates. lie bad gone in for cropping, and had had to borrow money to purchase the necessary implements. His first season’s crop had not been as successful as he anticipated, and his second had been interfered with by athletic engagements. It was common knowledge that his presence had been demanded by the public at nearly every athletic engagement in the land and he had been unable to refuse. In Anri! 192 G. he was sent away on a running expedition to Europe, although at that time he was not free from debt. He was away until November, 1920. and in his absence his brother had taken charge of the farm. Bankrupt had found matters not improved by his absence, hut had hoped from his crops of last season to straighten things out a little. In this he had l>eon disappointed, and on 20th August last he had called a meeting of his creditors and placed his position before them. At ith one exception they had expressed their willingness to accept composition and release him. It had been hoped that the dissenting creditor would relent* lint he had taken proceedings for tho amount due to him, and in order Co safeguard the other creditors Rose had been"compelled to file. After the meeting of creditors bankrupt had arianged with his landlord to release him. from the remainder of his lease. The bankrupt was not in attendance at the meeting, and it was explained by his solicitor (Air T. Jordon) that lie was at present on a station out of Stratford. He had been unable to make the trip in time. It was decided to realise on the assets and. to adjourn the meeting until 22nd November in order to allow him to he iri attendance.
