THE COUNCIL. 55’ELLINGTON, Nov. 12

The Legislative Council met at 2.30

On the motion of lion. Italian a return is to be prepared showing awards made as affecting tile farming industry in whic h preference or qualified preference to unionists is given, and stating in either ease tho limitation placed on the granting of preference. The Main Highways Amendment Bill was received from the House, and read a first time.

The Property Law Amendment Rill and Mortgagees Indemnity’ (“ Workers Charges ”) Rill were reported front the Statutes Revision Committee with minor and technical amendments, and were subsequently put through their final stages and passed. Amendments being approved the Post and Telegraph Amendment Rill was further considered in committee, technical amendments being effected on the motion of Sir Francis Hell. The Rill was passed as amended.

The Council rose at 1.18. THE HOUSE

In the House the Education Amendment Rill was read a second time pro forma.

The Motor Vehicles Amendment Rill and Valuation of Land Amendment Rill were put through the final stages and passed.

The Motor Spirits Taxation Bill was also read a third time and passed. The Howard Estate Rill was put through all stages and passed without debate.
