THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON. Nov. 8. The Legislative Council met at 3.150 p.m. to-day. The Electoral Bill and Intermediate Rural Credit Bill were pul through the final stages lin’d passsed without amendment. After dealing with two local Bills the Council adjourned at 5.1(1 p.m. until to-morrow. THE TlorSE. In the House, the Government introduced the Licensing Amendment Bill which the Prime Minister explained would open up the question whether licensing polls shall he taken every three or every six years. It provided for a two issue ballot jOper, State control being eliminated. The majority to carry prohibition should be 55 per cent of tbe votes cast. Larger discretionary power was given to 1 1 'a 'og ( emmit tees to shift licenses when renewing them. The Bill was read a first time. Afo'-f 4'"es Tndomnitv (workers charges) Bill was put through the Committee stage unamended and passed. Post and Telegraph Amendment Bill was put through the final stages and passed. Property Tjaw Amendment Bill was committed, read a third time and passed. Motor Spirits Taxation Bill was introduced and read first time. The House rose at 11.35 p.m. till 2.30 p.m.
