have the effect of clearing up the difficulties in the way of a strong prospecting company coming to the Dominion and engaging in prospecting in a comprehensive way. If this is the case, we may expect the likely lands of the Dominion to be thoroughly tested for petroleum in the near future.—“(Taranaki News.”
The reprehensible neglect ol the health of school children by parents and guardians is not due to poverty so much as to ignorance and indifference, and while it is very difficult to improve the moral fibre of parents who shirk their responsibilities to their families hv reason of apathy, much can he done to assist those who err in the upbringing of their children through lack ol knowledge. The health of our young people is one of our greatest assets, and anything which menaces it is a threat to weaken the nation at a vital point. We pride ourselves on the standard of health in the Dominion, and we have reason to do so, hut . very definite and alarming weakness in the prevalence of goitre ill our young people is pointed out by the medico profession. The simple method recommended for its prevention is within the reach of all classo. and responsibility for its application rests with the parents of the children. —"Lyttelton Times.”
