Thompson, of Wold Street, will join in extending congratulations and hearty good wishes to them, the couple to-day celebrating the tilth anniversary of their marriage. They were married in Wiltshire, England, on November sth, 1803, and for 01 years have been residents of Hokitika. Both are in fairly good health to-day.

St. I‘iul’s Dramatic Club held a social reunion at the Soldiers’ Hall last evening when there was a considerable gathering of the members and their friends and the Church officers. Games and pastimes ol virions kinds were participated in, including competitions, and an amusing mock court. There w,ns also much music, including vocal items, as well as recitations. Refreshments ueio served and altogether the gathering was a very pleasant one. A meeting of the Club will be held next’ Friday to consider the matter of a country tour, several invitations having been received.

The Westland Power Ltd. is making very good progress with the. preliminary work regarding the establishment of hydro-electric works for the North Westland district. Contracts have been let for the supply of local poles for the district reticulation. A quantity of hardwood poles are on order also. I lie local staff is being organised, and the foreman for the outside work is here to take charge of the construction of the lino. The business offering 'is in advance of first expectations, and tbo plant for the initiation of the power scheme will now be acquired locally, so that the first power will be available in the new year. Additional plant is on order from England. The prospects of gold mining developments, following the introduction of hydro-electricity in North Westland arc very promising.

Nuptial Mass was celebrated at Ist. Patrick’s Church, Kumara, by the Rev. Father Lordan on Tuesday morning ol Delia, fourth daughter of .Air and -Mrs .Al. Some o' the miners express the opinion that the tunnels at this mine require more continuous attention, and possibly that e more shiftmen than are at present engaged. The top mine is now nearing its term, whilst the middle brake mine is the one receiving most attention, r it is still in the development stage.
