AOOINCTON STOCK SALES. Christchurch. Oct. 27. The entries of stock at the Metropolitan weekly market at Addington yesterday were generally smaller than was the case last week. The yarding of fat eatt-le totalled 430 head. The sale opened briskly with prices showing an advance of 20s a head on late rates, tint towards the end, there was an easing and this improvement was lost. Taking the sale as a whole, fat cattle were only 10s a head in advance of last week’s rates. The entry of fat sheep filled ten races and a half, one less than last week. They met with an irregular demand, hut generally prices showed an advance of Is a head compared with the previous week’s prices. Spring lambs were penned in increased numbers. The sale for them opened firmly at late rates, hut about halfway through competition slackened and prices went hack by 3s to Is a head. A small entry of store sheep met with a brighter demand than last week, though there was not- much alteration in prices. There was a good demand for store cattle, and dairy cattle improved considerably in price. Vealers sold at about late rates, and fat pigs met with a steady demand at about last week’s prices. Prices for all classes of store pigs were milch higher than they have been at recent markets. Fat cattle—Prices a 1001 b. were: Best medium weight prime heel to 455. prime 41s to 435, medium 37s to 40s, heavy weight 35s to 37s 6d. ordinary cow beef 31s to 33s Gd. and rough <lo\vn to 27s Ocl. Store cattle - The demand was again good and all lots sold at satis!acini y rates. The sale throughout was satisaciory from the point of view of vendors. practically all lots being sold readily at auction. Values were: Small weaiiers 14s to 18s. good weaners 19s to 235. extra good weanei-s to 28s fid. slips 14s to 21s, small stores 22s to 2fis. medium stores 27s to 335, largo stores 34s to 40s, extra largo stores to lCs.
