THE FOREIGN MENACE. It is well known that a large portion of the timber used in New Zealand comes from the Pacific ports of North America, hut the part played respectively by Canada and the United States in this connection is not so well understood. States .. 108,792 165,282 228,883 It is facts sudi as these which have a definite adverse influence on the balance of trade.
