NEW YORK, Oct. 20. The United Press correspondent at Bio Do Janeiro, says: The latest reports indicate that 34-4 persons are still unaccounted for on the Princess Alafaldo. The rescue steamers are bringing 912 survivors to port. The total number of the passengers and c rew on the sunken ship was 1250. A later despatch says rescue steamers Alosella and Alassilia not included in the estimates of survivors are re ported to have picked up 251 persons leaving ninety-three still missing. VANCOUVER. Oct. 20. A Buenos A. vros message reports that all hut sixtv-eight of the passengers and crew of the sunken Dalian liner. Princesse Alafalda. are accounted for. according to the latest word from Bahia.

A TRAGIC SCENE
(Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 27.
A message from Bahia states the steamer Alosella has arrived with 24 members of the crew of the Print ipessa Alalfnlda. Commander Privat graphi-
cally described the sinking of the vessel and refused to believe the optimistic reports that only a few lives were lost. Privat estimated that six hundred perished. hut this estimate disagrees with others, and confusion still persists. Privnt, the survivors of the Afafalda’s crew and the Afosclla’s passengers all declared the tragedy occurred cm a black night with heavy seas and fierce winds. They told of the screams of dying women and children, of heroic rescues and of sharks overtaking a swimming man and devouring him. They also declared a dozen of the M.ifalda’s crew were killed by a boiler explosion which sent the ship sinking stern first.
