PARLIAMENT
(Bv Telegraph—Per Press Association.) THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Oct. 26. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 o'clock to-day. Tongariro National Bark Amendment Bill, Kauri Gum Industry Amendment Bill, Fertilisers Bill, and Stock Amendment Bill were received from the House and read a first time, and the two latter measures a second time pio forma and referred to the agricultui al and stock committee. Police Offences Amendment Bill was passed with minor amendments. Bankruptcy Amendment Bill and Guardianship of Infants Amendment Bill were put through their final stages •pid passed without- amendment. The Council adjourned at 4.12 p.m. until next day.
THE HOUSE. I„ the House the Post and Telegraph Amendment Hill was read a scr«nd time after lengthy and animated debate, after which the Bill was referred to Public Accounts Committee... On the motion to go into Committee on Rural Intermediate Credit Bill, the Prime Minister made a lengthy speech in explanation of Hie measure, and the debate was proceeding when the House adjourned at 11.50 p.m. till 2.30 p.m.
