CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 27. The annual report of the New Zealand Cricket Council reviews in some length the visit of the New Zealand team to England. “The play of tlio Dominion team” states the report, “far exceeded the most sanguine expectations of the people of this country, and established an entirely new status for the standard of play as compared with other parts of the Empire. New Zealand cricket is now established on a basis recognised by all cricketing countries of the Empire. The report proceeds: It is important that every advantage should he taken of the undoubted impetus, which has been given

to the game in New Zealand. In this respect cricket authorities are advised to emulate the example of tliejr Rugby friends, who continue to place a premium on youth. Other lessons of the tour are stated to ho the necessity to encourage the development of howling of the Dominion as well as fielding. “What New Zealand would have done without its two slow howlers,” stated the report, “it is difficult to imagine. Their fielding was disappointing and oven at the end of the tour when-it was a better team, it was admitted it was not a good fielding side. This lesson is not likely to he lost on New Zealand cricket for the future” WELLINGTON, Oct. 26. Roman, of the New Zealand cricket team, arrived hack by the Corinthie. There also arrived the English professionals Rowley and Langridge, for Auckland, Wilson for Taranaki, Newman for Canterbury, and Eastman for Otago.
