HENLEY REGATTA. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association. MELBOURNE. Oct. 23. There was ideal weather and a largo attendance at the Henley regatta . Great interest centred in the meeting of the New Zealand sculler. AY. Stevenson, with the Australian champion. R, Pearce. The New Zealander sculled well in the first heat, which ho won. heating the A'ictorian champion. A. Cambridge, hut he proved no match for Pearce in the final, doubling defeated Stevenson on the past for second position. Pearce is recognised as Australia's greatest amateur sculler, and lie is certain to win the Olympic test sculling race on Monday. AYailcmata stored a popular victory in the senior fours. winning their heat and the final easily. The critics were, favourably impressed by tlie vigorous leg drive and the pertect physical condition of the crew. Afosman (Sydney) defeated Melbourne bv a length and a hall in the senior eights.
