SWIMMING. LONDON. Oct. 23. Gleitze was beaten by the cold and taken out of the Channel against her will within 5 or (i miles of Dover, after swimming for 10 hours 35 minutes from Cape Grislier.. She said later:—” L am terribly sorry I did not do as well as the last time, hut I think the public will agree that the honour of women channel swimmers has been vindicated.” Towards the end Gleitze became overcome by lethargy and was roused with difficulty. Eventually she was not progressing and was taken out at the doctor’-, advice.
