FARCICAL TRIAL.
NEW YORK, Oct. 22. The M ’Andrew trial has developed both i'nreial and serious features to such an extent that it lias begun to to attract attention in a similar manner and scope to the evolution trial. Thompson has appointed a representatve to peruse all history volumes in Chicago Library and expurge those containing evidence ol British propaganda. It discovered Queen Victoria headed a movement in which every noted living British writer contributed toward recon',truction of the library after a fire m 1871. The Sovereign herself autographed one volume, namely:—“Presented to the city of Chicago toward the formation ol a public library after the fire of IS7I, as a mark of English sympathy by her Majesty Queen Victoria.” Representatives of all German societies in Chicago to-day presented Thompson with communications, supporting him in “ his war on King George of England,” and condemning those who take his defiance to the lhitisli crown facetiously.
