(By Telegraph—Per Press Association. THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Oct. 19. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.in. to-day. The Orchard Tax Bill and Apiaries Bill were received from the House a.,id read a first time, the lat-tor being also read a second time pro forma and referred to tho Statutes Revision Comni it tee. Tn moving tho secoiul rending of tlio Uusoms Amendment Bill, the leader of tile Council, Sir F. D. Bell, merely pointed out that the Council had no right to amend any part of it. The Bill was read a second time, committed without amendment, and'set down for the third reading oil Friday. Sir F. D. Bel! gave notice of his intention to introduce the Police Offences Consolidation BillThe Council adjourned at 1.22 until to-morrow. THE HOUSE. In the House the Guardianship of Infants Amendment Bill and Introduction of Plants Bill were read a second time. The Bankruptcy Amendment Bill, Magistrate's Courts Amendment Bill, Apprentices Amendment Bill and Public. Service Superannuation Bill were put through the committee stage, read read a third time and passed. The House rose at 10.30 till 2.30 p.m.
