WELLINGTON, Oct. 20. Evidence was given before the Education Committee by H. McHnigh, formerly a teacher in New South Wales, who said the system of religious retraction there was not satisfactory. Creswell (headmaster of Wellington College) opposed the Bill strongly on behalf of teachers of secondary schools. A. R. Atkinson addressed the committee at length in opposition. After he had spoken for an hour and a-halt the Chairman asked him to finish re ten minutes, but he said it was impossible. as he was not much more than I half-way through. . • The Committee will finish taking evidence this week, probably to-day.
