EVERYBODYS’ PICTURES - MKX UK Till-: NIGHT ” TO-NIGHT. The attraction at the Princess Theatre* tor this 'evening, is a colourful picture combining the tensity anil thrills of a crook melodrama, with the heart interest of a love romance. It is based upon the story “Men of the Xight,” by Florence Wagner, and has been directed hv A 1 Rogoll. “Men of the Xight ” is a sterling Picture, the first one made by Sterling Productions, Inc., for distribution through the Sterling Pictures Distributing Corporation. Its story concerns a sweet old lady reduced by poverty to selling papers for a living, and two crooks who employed her as a shield against the police tit their alleged “ Art Shop,” in reality a fence where they disposed of the jewels they stole. A strong affection springs up between the younger tbiet, a man ol good instincts led astray by the stronger nature of Rupert Dohb. his partner. She is soon calling him “son” atid lie calls her “ mother." When she learns that the two men are jewel thieves and are planning to rob a titled Englishwoman that niglit. she tollows bent upon inducing Dick Foster, ber “ son.” to give lip that sort of life. Sbe is caught returning to the open safe the jewels that Dick had stolen, and is arrested, and charged with the thott. She shields Dick and Dodd, the latter for Dick’s sake, and is found guilty. Gareth I ! Indies is cast as Dick Foster, and gives. it is said. a performance that is vivid. powerful and convincing. It tits him almost as well as that of Tommy in Barrie’s “Sentimental Tommy,” in which he i lim bed bis reputation as a screen actor of juvenile leads. Lucy Beaumont ails tbe role ol bis adopted mother, giving an absorbing and beautiful characterisation of mother love. Wanda Hawley is the girl. Herbert Bawiinsnn. the older crook, and Jay Hunt, one of his accomplices. Mnthilde Hrundage is the laidy Broderick. Miss Hawley has the sort of .sympathetic role in which the public likes her. Mr Rawlinsmi’s role calls upon him for acting of a particularly vivid and powerful type. A topical and comedy complete the display. On Friday Mrs Wallace Beid in “ Broken Raws.”
