CARTERTON RACES. CARTERTON, Oct. 15. For the Carterton races, there was excellent weather, with a large attendance, and the course was in good condition. Rain fell overnight, and in the early morning, but it did not interfere in any way with the meeting. The fields were large throughout and the racing interesting and exciting. The tote receipts showed an increase of £372, the day’s total being £13,628, against £13,260 last year.; Results:—

Bunny Memorial.—Royal Ceres I, Suggestion 2, Lady Ideal 3. Won by half a length. Time 1.15. Taratahi Hack.—Lady Killer 1, Mandarin 2, King Midas 3. Time 1.28 2-5. Tile weather was fine and warm for the races, and the going was good. There was an enormous attendance, including the Governor-General, Lord Stonehaven, many inter-Stato visitors, and a few New Zealanders. Oby Hurdles.—Bright Sword 1, Sir Gleam 2, King’s Path 3. AA'yuna Steeplechase.—AA'oomern 1, Doubtful Doctor 2, AA'eleome Stranger 3. AA'on by eight lengths. Time 4.34;). Caulfield Cup.—-Textile 1, Affirm 2, Star D’Or 3. Textile came until a great run and won by one and a-quar-ter lengths; Star D’Or two lengths away. Time 2.321. Rurwood Handicap.—Lonicera 1,! Farrago 2, Pitoola 3. AA'on by a length. Time 1.12 J. SYDNEY, Oet, 15. A big contingent of New Zealand racehorses, including Limerick, Battlement, Piuthair, Clarinda, Tariff, Arikiwai and Roseerea- left for New Zealand by the Ulimaroa and the passengers included Mr IT. A. Knight, Mr R. McKenzie and jockeys. Manson, Barry and Burt.
