{Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.] THE RED ARMY. LONDON, Oct. 14. In connection' with the recent statement as to the shooting contests of the Soviet forces, M. Vorosliiloff, the Soviet Commissar for War, announces that there already are seventy-two women officers in the Red Army. The Commissar adds that eight women have passed their staff examination. Nineteen women have participated in the pan-Soviet shooting contests, showing great skill with their revolvers. LONDON, Oct. 14. The “ Times’s ” Riga correspondent says: The Latvian police have arrested twenty-three soldiers and railwaymen, several of them possessing incriminating materials, in connection with a widespread- organisation which the Cheka established, in order to secure military information for the Soviet.
