(Australian Press Association & Sun. A DRAMATIC RESCUE. LONDON, Oct. 13. The dramatic nature of Miss Ruth Elder’s unexpected rescue is enhanced by the fact that the plane took fire almost at tho instant at which the occupants boarded the ship, and the machine burned furiously to the water’s edge. The plane was on almost exactly the correct course at the time of the mishap. Experts are of the opinion that, having covered more than half the journey and having reached (he good weather area, it most likely would have reached Paris, because the monoplane was almost the exact counterpart of Captain Lindbergh’s plane.

AIRMAN 'STARTS. NEW YORK, Oct. 14. Giles hopped off from lowa to-day for the Pacific Coast, after a. week’s delay caused by a broken oil pump. Tie expected to reach Sail Francisco within twenty-four hours. Smith, at San Francisco, announces his plans have been changed and lie will not leave for Honolulu until November 3rd, because lie wants the maximum moonlight. The plane may ho taken to Los Angeles for the installation of navigation instruments.
