SOUTH CHINA FERMENT. HONG KONG, Oct. 12. Swatow reports the position is still uneasy there. A. British naval party boarded a British steamer, driving off three hundred soldiers seeking a forced passage. At Canton* the situation is critical, Li-Chni-Sun, a Moderate, being ousted by Chang-Fat-Kwai, who is well known to be a Red Labourite, allied to tho Hankow clique. There has been much faction fighting I in the Canton streets. Tho Chinese steamer “ Shingon,” trading between Hong Kong and Wueliow, was pirated on the West River, and sixty Chinese passengers were kidnapped. The ship was ransacked, much booty being taken.
