REEFTON ODDFELLOWS’ BALL.

At *a very largely attended meeting of the Oddfellow’s Ball Committee last week the final arrangements for their Grand .Masquerade, Plain and Fancy Dress Ball on the 14th inst were concluded.

The announcement of u special orchestra engagement, including saxophones, drums, cornet, and violins, headed by a brilliant pinniste met with unanimous approval. As this will he their first appearance in Reefton lovers of good music should not fail to attend. Special prizes and donations for the competitions of original and fancy dress costumes occupied a considerable amount of time in view of this largely patronised part of the programme last year, and it was decided to give prizes in keeping with tho efforts and results displayed by the various competitors in most original and fancy dross. Enquiries have been received from other lodges throughout the district as faf away as -Murchison and Denniston, and with the support of the Greyimiutli. Blackball and Westport lodges, one of the largest functions yet held is

anticipated. The Hall Decorating Committee under the control of Mr -T. Woods, have most lavished schemes set out for the decoration of the hall. A special lighting display is being entrusted to the Reefton Electric Light Engineers, viz., Messrs Cebbie and Austin. Tickets are now in circulation, double tickets 7s 6d; single gents ss; extra lady 3s. The charge is very moderate for a hall of such magnitude. This could not be accomplished without the assistance of the- willing workers, who are now working under full pressure. The Ladies’ Committee which have in hand complete catering for tho sitdown supper, met last Tuesday evening and completed their orders for supplies. This Committee have a very difficult task, as it appears they will have to cater for a greater number than that of the previous occasion, when over four hundred were waited on at the supper tables.
