THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Oct. 7. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Counties Amendment ]5iU and Christchurch District Drainage Amendment Bill were reported from Committee without amendment and the Legislative Amendment Bill with a minor amendment-.

The Council adjourned at 2.35 p.m until Wednesday. , THE HOUSE.

In the House the following Bills were introduced and read a first time — The Introduction of Plants Bill (Hon Hawken). Mining Amendment Bill (Hon. Anderson), Guardianship of Infants Bill (Hon. Rolleslon). The House then went into Committee of Supply to further consider the Estimates, when the following votes were (passed—Customs Department £l7O 899; Stamps, £93,013; Land and Income, £55,318; State Advances, £66,923; Marine £118,650; Pensions £165,946; Education, £3,003,4i4; Public Service Commissioner, £6,886; Public Trust, £233,529; Electoral, £9,780; Cook Islands, £56,210; Audit, £29 5 9 7 ' Nauru Island, £6OO. Tliis completed the passing of the Estimates amounting to £24,208,049 and at 11.40 pjm. the House rose till 7.30 on Monday night.
