HOKITIKA GUN CLUB

The final shoot for the gun trophy took place on the Gun Club’s grounds on October 2nd. There was a good muster of competitors and great enthusiasm. was displayed throughout. The day was rather overcast, with v cross wind that made shooting difficult. The winner of the D.8.8.L. hammerless gun and the other trophies were, as follows. :

First. Dr Buchanan, 18 breaks, won the gun out of 21. Five tied with 16 breaks, the shoot off resulted as follows, first miss out: 2nd, Alex G. King, trophy and cash, 17 birds; in the shoot for the 3rd prize, first miss out. E. J. Lloyd, cash prize, won on the 17th bird; Ith. .T. Haile, cash prize, with 1G breaks; Tor the nth prize. P. Dougherty and .T. Phibbs tied and on the shoot off P. Dougherty won on the 18th bird. At the conclusion of the shoot in the unavoidable absence through sickness of the President. Air 1. Brown, Mr .T, J. Mclntosh presented the prizes to each winner, complimenting the winner of the gull. Dr Buchanan on his performance and said ho hoped to see him a t the traps frequently in tho future. Dr Buchanan on expressing his thanks said no one was more surprised than ho was himself that he was able to win. The other prize winners suitably replied. A noteworthy fact is that Messrs Haile, King and Dougherty are quite young members cl the Cod' and their performances were very creditable indeed. It is quite possible that they will iho taking place in cliamponsliip shoots in the near luturo.

\t. the conclusion ol the day’s sport the Secretary, Mr C. J. King announced that a valuable gun would he competed for, first shoot to take place on the Club’s grounds, commencing on October 16th. 1927. and will he a Club slioolj 21 bird rise.
