RANDAATCK RACES. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association. SYDNEY, Oct. 2. The weather cleared up and was warm and sultry when the Australian Jockey Club’s spring meeting commenced at Randwick yesterday. The attendance was eighty thousand. The course was in good order. Epsom Handicap.—Ynals 1, Alak Sieenr 2, Gothic 3. Won by three lengths. Time 1.38}. SPRING STAKES. Limerick (AfcCarten) 8.11 1 Pantheon (Pike) 9.6 2 Bacchus (Cairns) 9.2 3 Kignt started, including Piuthair and Pilliewinkie. From a good start Horton and Gag immediately took the lead from Pantheon, Limerick and Piuthair. Limerick drew up to second along the back, and led into the straight, but Limerick gained the verdict by a long neck. Time 2.33:]. Kensington Handicap.—Mote' 1, Magdaff 2, Spaghetti 3. AA’on by a length. Time 1.27}. Hurdles.—Bungniley and Arountaineer, a dead beat, 1, Piratic 3. Third liorse four lengths away. Time 3.43. Trial Stakes.—Bicolour 1, Son o’ Mine 2, Devonshire 3. AA’on by four lengths. Time 2.6]. DERBY. Trivale (Lewis) 8.10 1 AYinalot (Davidson) 8.10 ... 2 Black Duchess (Cracknel]) 3 All the; acceptors started, except Rosso. A good start was effected, and when the field settled down, Mnltfern and Chromium were leading, followed by Merry Mint. Several changes oc. eurred as the leaders approached the straight, where AVinalot seemed to bo the winner. Merry Af.int also threw out a challenge, but Trivalve came up on the outside and won by half a neck. Black Duchess was two lengths av r ay third. Time 2.33.
V.R.C. JUVENILE RACES. AIELBORNE, Oct. 2. At the Victoria Racing Club meeting, the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes for colts and geldings resulted.—Alollison 8.2, 1 ; Salvach 8.5, 2; The Cad 8.2, 3. Twenty-seven started. Won by two lengths. Time 56J. ALaribyrnong Trial Stakes for fillies. —Ala id of the Nook 8.0, 1 ; Mistral 8.7 2, Nymba 8.0 3. Seventeen started. Won by two lengths. Time 59Jsecs.
The Victorian Racing Club’s October Stakes resulted.-—Royal Charter 9.0, 1 ; Chariot 7.3, 2 ; Avant Courier 7.6, 3. Ten started. Won by three lengths. Time 1.45'.
HURDLE ACCIDENT. SYDNEY, Oct. 2. In a fall in the hurdles at Randwick yesterday, the jockey AI. AVebster received severe spinal injuries, and was taken to the hospital. Four other jockeys were slightly hurt. RAIN FALLS. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 3. Tt is raining heavily for the second day’s races.
