(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) RAINS IN AUSTRALIA. MELBOURNE, Oct. 2. Heavy rain is falling over the greater part of the (state of Victoria. It is saving the wheat crop. The Superintendent of Agriculture states that had the rain been delayed for another three weeks, over ten million bushels of wheat, valued at £2,500.000, would have been lost. The rain is causing floods in some districts. The town of Maralgen, in Gippsland, is now threatened with a most serious flood. All the low lying land about it is submerged and numbers of the residents are marooned. The Latrobo River has broken its banks, and a serious extension of the floods is feared. There have lieen heavy losses c-f stock. SYDNEY, Oct. 2. To-day heavy rain is still falling in many parts of the State. Numerous railway washaways are reported.
