[Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.] SOVIET NAVAL MANOEUVRES. RIGA, Sept. 30. The Soviet’s naval and military manoeuvres at Odessa, which lasted for a whole week, culminated in aerial gas attacks. The Soviet warships repeatedly manoeuvred off the Roumanian coast, causing disquiet among the Roumanian people. Thereupon the Moscow politicians launched several canards, referring to alleged Anglo-Roumanian co-operation against the Soviet, particularly in the construction of a British base at Constantin. (Kustenji) ! to enable attacks to lie made on the Soviet ports.
TR OTSKY EXBELLED. MOSCOW., Oct, 1. Because they violated their undertaking in August to cease their opposition activities, M. Trotsky and his bon companion. M. Vuyonvitcli, have been expelled from the Communist International Executive. M. Trotsky defiantly told the Executive that the Communist discipline was not binding to him. Among the charges against M. Trotsky was that lie was Hie creator of a secret printing plant, which was flooding Russia with opposition propaganda.

The Georgian Press Bureau declares that a rising in Azerbaijan, begun in August, continues. It states the insurgents defeated th 3 Bolsheviks, who lost a field gun and several machine guns. The insurgents have occupied Clmrux, which they are still holding. They are also maintaining other positions, despite a bombardment hv the Soviet Caspian Sea Fleet. CONSTANTINOPLE, Sept. 30. The Bolsheviks have arrested a number of American relief workers in Erivan, on a charge of teaching religion to Armenian children. MOSCOW, Oct. 1.
A Soviet-Persian guarantee neutrality pact, and also a trade agreement, have been signed.
