PARLIAMENTARY.

THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m.
The Imprest Supply Bill No. 4 was received from the House and put through nil stages and passed. Speaking on the third reading, Hon Clark raised the question of civil service superannuation being permitted to assign one half of their superannuation to their wives, to ensure that the latter may have something to live on in the event of the death of the husband. In reply, Sir H. Rhodes said that Cabinet had the matter under serious consideration. A clause wa6 V prepared and inserted in the Bill last session, but was withdrawn. Tlie Legislative Amendment Bill' was read a second time and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. The Council adjourned at 3.30 p.m. until next day.
THE HOUSE. In the Houseiyiuring the afterncr sitting the Apiaries Bill was introduced and read a first time. Tho Alinister explained one of the provisions of the Bill was to control to a greater extent the eradication of foul brood
in bees. At the evening sitting the folljjjving Bills were put through the Committee .stage, read a third time and passed’:—Land for Settlement; Counties Amendment; Peel Forest Amendment; New Zealand Institute of Horticulture Fungicides and Insecticides; Dangerous Drugs. Tlie Inspection of Alachinery Amendment Bill was put through the Committee stage without amendment but the third reading was deferred until next sitting day.
The House rose at 12.50 a.m. till 2.30 p.m.
