‘THE WINNING OF BARBARA WORTH ’’—FRIDAY. Filmed on the great arid lilaek Rock Desert, the story unfolds a world of entertaining and educational features before .Ronald Column, as W iilard Holmes, begins to feel sure that he has finally won the fair Barbara, played by Vi lin a Hanky. Ronald Holman's ride with the pay-roll to stop a threatened revolt of labourers in the town of liarha, built by Jefferson Worth, Barbara’s father, to compete with Kingston, is one of the high spots of the production. Over miles of barren desert and through the beautiful canyons of the Ilarelquin Mountains, Willard Holmes and Abe Lee rode through the night. Bandits, hired by James Greenfield. Holmes’ fosterlather. waylaid the pair in Devil’s Canyon. The battle, distinguished by its sincerity and the excellent acting of the characters involved, resulted in the wounding of both men. Vilmn. Hanky, who as the grown-up Barbara, casts the magic spell over Ronald Colli.an. young easterner, and Gary Cooper. as Ahe Lee, desert-hrccl west- j cm engineer, plays the mother of the j infant Barbara in the prologue of tlioj picture. The sand storm scenes constitute, a vivid part of “The Winning! of Barbara Worth.” Henry King was,' directing'Column and -Miss Banky in tin interior scene early one afternoon when far across the desert a. sand storm began formation. Quickly equipping a camera ear, ho began to | chase the rolling clouds of sand and dust. The storm was encountered about twenty-live miles from the desert camp and photographed from till angles.
