EVANGELISTIC WORK
PRESBYTERIANS’ ACTIVITY. BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSN., COPYRIGHT • CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 23. Although he spoke on a serious theme and delivered a serious message, Archbishop Julius gave his hearers much to chuckle over when he delivered a short address at last evening’s social of the Cathedral congregation. The address was characteristic of the Archbishop in his happiest vein, and was greatly enjoyed by the large attendance, over whom Bishop West-Watson presided. Tn stressing the need for greater interest on the part of the congregation, Archbishop Julius said that what was wanted was an organisation in the Cathedral that would bring people together. “There is one thing that I am always thinking of” he said, “low know that the Presbyterians (God bless them !) are going ahead with their Bible classes. They are getting hold of the voting lads better than we are. There is no doubt about that. It is an awful thing to make them Presbyterians, hut it is better than nothing. We should be getting them, and the Cathedral should be the centre of a great evangelistic work for our young men and young women. There are so many influences that are anti-Christian, hostile to everything good and true, and the Cathedral congregation is one that should hold out a helping hand. T hope the Cathedral will extend a welcome to them, so that we can bring them in and tlie church will not be losing so many of its young people.”
