Mil BALDWIN OX MOTTOES. )Wish picturesque ceremonial.) Mr Baldwin, the Prime Minister, was made an lionoury freeman and liveryman of tho Stationers* Company in their hall off Ludgate-hill, E.C on June 20. He was “cloaked” by the beadle in a livery gown and a scarf of black red was placed around his shoulders. Mr Baldwin read the solemnly worded declaration of the Company and was given tho certificate of registration in an oak box. In bis speech, the Prime Minister alluded to the motto of the Stationers’ Company (Veabum Domini mallet in aeternum —the word of the Lord enduretli for ever) and added : Had your company been founded today, think what mottoes might have been suggested by some of the great men moving among us. You might have had, “Push or go,” or“ Devil take the hindmost.” or “Charity begins at home”, or “Blow your own trumpet for no one else will blow it for you” ! But thank Cod you have a motto which has come through the ages and which will live into the ages. In these day you stand for one,of the greatest tilings in the world—honest craftsmanship. You stand for another great thing in teaching that craftsmanship and in looking after those who have fallen by the way.
