The Canadian Government steamer Stanley and the big feighter, Larch, bearing the mebbers of the Hudson Strait expedition, have sailed from Halifax. Nova Scotia, oh their long, lonesome trip to the Far North, oii what ihas been described as “the greatest geographical, scientific, and biological” expedition ever attempted, liy any Canadian Goveriiment. Major H.. B. .McLean is in charge: Captain Johii Hearn, commands the Stanley, aiid , Captain Baleom commands the Larch. The aim of the expedition is to establish observation posts' along the south shore of Hudson Strait foi the purpose of obtaining scientific data liy means of aerial survey. The data will guide the Government in placing its aids to navigation, in view of the projected early completion of the .Hudson Bay Railway and the possibilities of maritime commerce in the strait. The work to be undertaken will last for fifteen months at least,
